IIFA fever is on in Malaysia

The 16th IIFA Weekend will be held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this weekend from June 5-7. Here we bring you the highlights of the 3-day Bollywood extravaganza that includes a Gala Screening, Fashion Extravaganza and the ultimate in glitz -- the IIFA Awards.

Dil Dhadakne Do premiere

It’s the most awaited film of the year and the sparkling star cast of Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra and Anil Kapoor will walk the green carpet for the movie premiere on June 6. Die-hard Bollywood fans in Dubai would have already seen the film by then since it releases today across the UAE. Led by the dapper Anil Kapoor who has been at the forefront of the IIFA announcements this year, the movie will no doubt add an extra dose of high energy to the event.

Sonakshi to sing

IIFA Rocks is an exclusive music extravaganza, which will see a host of musical performances by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ankit Tiwari, Mika Singh, Kanika Kapoor, Javed Ali and the Nooran sisters. Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra will host this show which will mark Sonakshi Sinha’s debut as a singer in front of a live audience.

Neha to host fashion event

Following her stint as a golden carpet fashion commentator at our very own AIBA, Neha Dhupia will be hosting IIFA’s fashion event, which will present collections by designers like Rocky S, Masaba and Gaurang Shah.

Arjun-Ranveer as hosts

We’ve already seen the duo in action during the AIB Knockout Roast - which led to much controversy. If that was any indication, we are sure we can expect crazier antics from the Gunday stars whose camaraderie has been the talk of the industry for a long time. With Ranveer’s hyper personality and colourful wardrobe and Arjun’s tongue-in-cheek sense of humour, we can’t wait to see what the duo has in store for us.

Surprise Surprise? Stars on the green carpet

Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha among others are expected to perform on the main awards night on June 7. Director Subhash Ghai will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Plus the evening also offers a chance for fans to catch their favourite stars in their fanciest designer wear.
Last year Kevin Spacey came on stage and danced and had Bollywood stars vying to click selfies with him. We wonder which Hollywood star will prove to be the surprise guest for the evening...

Major nominations

Among the movies 2 States starring Alia Bhatt-Arjun Kapoor is on top with a total of nine nominations. National Award Winning film Haider comes a close second with eight nominations, while Rajkumar Hirani’s PK has got six nominations. Kangana Ranaut (Queen), Priyanka Chopra (Mary Kom), Anushka Chopra (PK), Alia Bhatt (2 States), Deepika Padukone (Happy New Year) and Rani Mukerji (Mardaani) will slug it out for the Best Actress trophy. Among the male actors, it will be a close call between Shahid Kapoor (Haider), Aamir Khan (PK), Arjun Kapoor (2 States), Hrithik Roshan (Bang Bang), Randeep Hooda (Highway), and Shah Rukh Khan (Happy New Year)
