Story
Raghu (Sidharth Malhotra) has been brought up by a mafia leader whose son Vishnu (Riteish Deshmukh) is a dwarf. Raghu grows up to be a downright gangster following the orders of the man who raised him. As instructed, Raghu kills the son of another mafia leader, and that's when Vishnu comes in, completely filled with rage and is jealous of Raghu.
Meanwhile, Raghu falls in love with Rakul Preet Singh, who plays the role of a dancer at a bar. But then he meets Zoya (Tara Sutaria), who is mute, and teaches music to children. Zoya falls in love with Raghu. But Vishnu, who is looking to locks horns with Raghu, gets the perfect opportunity when he refuses to let Zoya and her students go for a music programme in Kashmir.
The movie then abruptly shows an angered Vishnu killing the mafia leader, whose son was killed by Raghu, along with his family. Zoya is witness to the murders committed by Vishnu, following which Raghu is given the task kill Zoya.
Raghu kills Zoya and then his revenge follows.
Screenplay
The screenplay is appalling. It is a patch of abrupt scenes put together.
Dialogue
Poor dialogues. Serious, intriguing scenes turn out to be hilarious as the dialogues are flimsy.
Music
The music also fails to appeal to the audience. Only the song starring Nora Fatehi leaves a mark. The other song 'Tum Hi Aana' is topping the charts but appears in bits and pieces in the movie, robbing the viewers of its charm.
Action
The action is uninteresting and too filmy to look true.
Direction
Milap Zaveri fails to deliver. Also, the story of the film written by him has no weight. Poor direction reflects in acting, editing and action.
Acting
Characters of both Riteish and Sidharth are poorly written and have no depth. This leaves the actors clueless and lost in the movie and they are unable to deliver their best. Tara has done a fair job with her little part.
Editing
Editing also is poor. The length of the movie is unnecessary.
Verdict
Watching 'Marjaavaan' for 2 hours and 30 minutes is a torture as the film lacks emotion, action and the scenes are not co-related. The plot and scenes are just put together. Not worth a watch.
Film: Marjaavaan
Director: Milap Zaveri
Cast: Riteish Deshmukh, Sidharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria and Rakul Preet Singh
Duration: 2 hours 30 mins
