Ahead of the much controversial magnum opus Padmaavat, the movie was specially screened for a group of journalists in Delhi. With resistance from those calling the movie disrespectful to the Rajputs and claimed it distorts history, Padmaavat ran into trouble and many thought it would never ever release.
The journalists in the national capital were enthralled by the movie at the screening and were bowled over by Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor's magnificent portrayal of historical characters.
However, they expressed that modifications made in Padmaavat after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recommendations, have affected the storyline of the movie.
One of the journalists present at the screening told ANI, "Modifications have ruined the story-telling of the movie. I would have given four stars to the movie if it would have been shown to us without any modifications."
Meanwhile, another journalist said that the film loses many references in the story and the movie lost all its soul because of all the cuts that have been done in the movie.
Indicating the controversy was blown out of proportion, the journalists collectively said that there is nothing in the movie which would affect the Rajput community in a wrong way. "The movie has been made for Rajput community, not against them," noted one journalist.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus is all set for a worldwide January 25 release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The film is based on 16th-century Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's epic poem 'Padmaavat'.
