Priya Prakash Varrier, the girl who stole million hearts with her 'wink' in the video song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi', is still not allowed to use her own phone.
Prakash Varrier, Priya's father, said his daughter still doesn't have the permission to use mobile phones. Even though the youngster carries a phone, it doesn't have a SIM card in it to make calls, Prakash told The Indian Express.
Prakash Varrier said, "There is no SIM card in the phone that Priya carries. We are yet to allow her to make calls using a mobile phone. Priya receives her calls in her mother's mobile phone."
Priya can browse the internet using mobile phone only where the internet hot spot is active, he said.
"When Priya's video became viral, one of my co-workers send me her video clip. I asked him whether he knew who she was. He replied that he didn't know who it was. When I told him that the girl in the video is my daughter, he went speechless for a while. I could say that he may have been stunned to know that," Prakash added.
Prakash, an official at the central excise department, said that his daughter was raised like a normal girl, but she had different tastes and ambitions. "She was really an ordinary girl, just with a different ambition," he said.
Recent reports suggested that many major brands are vying to rope in Priya to promote their products through Instagram influencer marketing as the pictures and videos posted by her on her social media garner around ten lakh likes and over twenty thousand comments.
She now has a PR manager to handle interview requests and sponsorship deals. "She did a few Instagram posts for brands like Pringles, One Plus One and Hypster. But no more now,"  Venu OV, the director's publicity manager, quoted as saying in the report.
After creating waves with her wink, internet sensation girl is believed to make her Bollywood debut opposite Ranveer Singh in Rohit Shetty's upcoming film Simmba.
Simmba is a Rohit Shetty directorial with produced by him along with Karan Johar.  While she might not have a big role in the film, it would be interesting to see what role Rohit casts her in.
