As Indian pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, reached Delhi around midnight from Amritsar on Friday after being released from Pakistan's custody - citizens across India celebrated the 'hero's' return, including Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan.
Ahead of his release on Friday evening, Shah Rukh took to Instagram to share an emotional #WelcomeBackAbhinandan post, captioned:

'There is no better feeling than Coming back Home, for home is the place of love, hope & dreams. Ur bravery makes us stronger. Eternally grateful. #WelcomeBackAbhinandan'
At the time of filing this report, the post had received over a million likes.
Abhinandan was captured by Pakistan Army on February 27 in Kashmir after his MiG 21 was hit, and he ejected.
He was chased by a mob and later rescued by the Pakistan Army.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced on February 28 that Abhinandan would be released on Friday without any preconditions as a "gesture of peace".
Among other major film stars who welcome the pilot's release included Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh among others:
