It is not always that spoofs work in Malayalam cinema. But Chirakodinja Kinavukal, a fantastic satire on the clichés in Malayalam cinema, has now become a runaway success, and is playing at theatres in the UAE.

Starring Kunchacko Boban, Rima Kallingal, Sreenivasan and Joy Mathew, the film is directed by newcomer Santhosh Viswanath, and scripted by Praveen S and Arun Ajay.

Earning critical acclaim for its intelligent writing, the film takes off from the fictional characters created by Sreenivasan in the film Azhagiya Ravanan. Kunchacko Boban plays a dual role as a village tailor and a UK-returnee, who falls in love with the daughter of a log-cutter. All the imaginable clichés come to full play in this delightful movie that is highly recommended by critics.
