Organised by the Petroleum Institute, the workshop, themed “Industrial Renewable Energy Applications”, was opened by ADMA-OPCO CEO Ali Rashid Al Jarwan.
It was attended by a number of the company’s divisional managers, and PI representatives along with a galaxy of international speakers specialising in areas of renewable energy.
Delivering the workshop keynote speech, Al Jarwan underscored his company’s commitment to observing the principles of sustainable energy and promotion of the image of Abu Dhabi as a regional and international hub for the future energy solutions.
“Applying the directives of Yousef Omair bin Yousef, CEO of ADNOC, ADNOC & Group of Companies have set a strategic goal to stop gas and oil flaring which happen as a result of production and testing processes of oil.”
Al Jarwan noted that the use of solar energy, the control of industrial waste and the introduction of a zero flaring policy are high on the company’s business agenda.
The CEO singled out the continued cooperation between ADMA-OPCO and the PI to gradually reduce the gas it burns to a minimum number of pilot flares required for safety by making the best use of the latest renewable energy technologies in its offshore sites.
The workshop was sponsored by ADMA-OPCO, ADCO, ADGAS, GASCO and the PI.
The solar energy solutions, sustainability, other renewable energy sources, and the standards and codes of sustainability were on top of the subjects discussed during the function.
Dr Tony Book, Chairman of the World Board of the International Solar Energy Society, and Professor Ali Sayiegh, the Chairman and Founder of the World Renewable Energy Congress and Council were among the keynote speakers at the workshop.
Other notable speakers and experts invited by the PI included Dr. Abtar Singh, Dr. Nada El-Zein, Professor Neil Hewitt, Dr. Mohsen Aboulnaga, Dr Zakya H. Kafafi, Engineer Barath Baskaranathan , and Holley Chant.
Al Jarwan was recognised during the workshop by the PI in appreciation of his contributions to the workshop and his efforts in areas of industrial renewable energy.
PI was created in 2001 with the goal of establishing itself as a world-class institution in engineering education and research in areas of significance to the oil and gas and the broader energy industries.
