The mid-market hospitality sector is set to grow significantly in the UAE over the next few years primarily due to the upcoming Expo2020. Other contributing factors are the rise in demand from China, India and GCC countries as well as Generation Y travellers and young families on a budget.
Dubai-based Al Khoory Hotels is set to open a 227-room Al Khoory Atrium Hotel Al Barsha in July 2016. This mid-market property will be launched at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), which begins on Monday.
Mohammed M.T. Khoory, managing director, Al Khoory Group, said: "We plan to offer 1,100 rooms in Dubai by the end of 2019. During this time, we will also start to explore opportunities internationally and create management contracts with standalone properties in the UAE and GCC where we see long-term growth opportunities."
The group's existing properties include the Al Khoory Hotel Apartments in Al Barsha and Al Khoory Executive Hotel in Al Wasl, aimed at both leisure and business travellers.
With free Wi-Fi and a media hub in every room, the Al Barsha hotel's offering will be complemented by its location. The property also offers meeting rooms with banquet and conference facilities for up to 70 people. All hotels within the group are dry, serve halal food and have a no-smoking policy.
Each room also features en-suite bathroom with rain shower and bathtub, a 40-inch flat screen satellite television, air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, mini fridge and an electronic safe. Guests can customise room lighting and create a relaxed atmosphere as per their mood.
Junior suites include a separate living room. The executive suite, in addition to the bedroom and living room, is equipped with a walk-in closet, 60-inch flat screen television and jacuzzi. Both suite categories are also equipped with an espresso machine.
"'Spices' is the all-day dining restaurant and 'La Atrio' is the Italian speciality restaurant," said Pierre Sokhon, group general manager,
The hotel will feature a rooftop infinity swimming pool, separate facilities for men and women such a jacuzzi, Moroccan bath, gym, sauna and steam rooms, as well as massage and treatment rooms.
During ATM, Al Khoory Hotels will also discuss plans to open the 69-room Al Khoory Inn Bur Dubai by 2017, the 370-room Al Khoory Plaza Hotel Deira and the 99-room Al Khoory Central Hotel and 159-room Al Khoory Courtyard Hotel - both set to open in Al Quoz in 2019. The company is also set embark on an expansion plan in Oman, including one property in Muscat and two in Sohar.
