The world's leading car rental brand, Avis provides business and leisure customers with a wide range of services around the Middle East through operations in nine countries in the Middle East including the GCC as well as Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.

Speaking along the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), Thierry Domballe, Avis Regional Director for the Mediterranean & Middle East said: "As part of our commitment to expand into local markets region-wide, we foresee the Middle East market as one that offers tremendous potential for growth and are confident of increasing our fleet size by 100 per cent to over 20,000 cars over the next five years."

Domballe noted that senior officials from Avis in the Middle East are currently in Dubai to use the platform of ATM and meet with regional partners and promote the Avis network among travel agents and tour operators. "Intra-regional travel in the Middle East has been identified as an area of strong growth and our expansion in this market will ensure that Avis is conveniently positioned to capitalise on the intra-regional travel. We are expecting a year-on-year double digit-growth in our lease and rent a car business in the Middle East," he remarked.

Avis country managers from nine countries are in the emirate to look at ways of further developing the already successful outbound business from the Middle East to all countries within the Avis network alongside developing inbound business to the region.
