BSA hails Jordan's IT development

DUBAI - Business Software Alliance (BSA), the organisation that represents the interests of global software developers, has hailed the advances made by Jordan in Information Technology and commended the authorities efforts in protecting Intellectual Property Rights of software developers.

Ma'amoun Al Talhouni, director general of Jordanian National Library is responsible for bringing this change in Jordan and campaigning the cause of protecting Intellectual Property Rights of software developers through a series of forums & seminars.

According to Jawad Al Redha, co-chairman, Business Software Alliance, said: "This environment will definitely result in making Jordan an ideal IT investment destination & will help the flourishing IT industry in creating IT professionals who have the support to create advanced software solutions and thus raise the image of Jordan as a high-class IT catalyst in the region."

The Prime Minister of Jordan has recently issued a circular to all ministries and Government departments to comply with the IPR law & use only legal software.

The country has been aggressively promoting the importance of using original software in all systems because Jordanians being highly skilled in software development understand too well the value of copyrighted software. The authorities in Jordan are putting a great deal of effort into encouraging businesses and the government sector to combat piracy by using only original software.

The Jordanian public sector as well as private companies are collaborating very effectively in helping Jordan attain new levels of excellence in the Information Technology industry.

Al Talhouni, concluded saying that: "Jordan is pleased to have the support of BSA in devising collaborative campaigns in weeding out software piracy. Jordan is strongly committed to supporting anti-piracy campaigns because it is in our interest to develop our IT industry further."
