Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure on Tuesday unveiled a futuristic masterplan for Arzanah, a community designed to become the new urban destination in Zayed Sports City. The plan will include a 316,918sqm indoor shopping centre, which will house a bowling alley and ice rink, and other family-focused entertainment elements.
Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure associate director Saed Arar told Khaleej Times that Arzanah would be a combination of sports, entertainment and retail options. It will also complement the Zayed Sports City stadium.
"It's a family-oriented development. We are testing the market as to how people will react to the new proposals. This will give us an indication on amendments, if any. Arzanah will include the stadium, which is being refurbished. There will also be apartments, villas, hotels, malls, healthcare offerings and more. We want to offer something for a three-year-old and 80-year-old," Arar said.
He pointed out how a bio-dome with rainforest theme would attract families. All these offerings, he said, would make Arzanah a weekend destination.
"You will park your car here on Thursday afternoon and take it back only by Saturday afternoon as everything one needs for a fun weekend will be available at Arzanah. That's what we are trying to achieve."
Despite a challenging year, Arar is hopeful that Abu Dhabi real estate would hold up well. "Abu Dhabi has always been strong in overcoming challenging environments. Real estate is a cycle with good, bad and challenging years. We are passing through a challenging year but the next years to come will be positive."
Meanwhile, Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure executive director Ali Eid Al Mheiri said Arzanah is a unique and innovative offering for the community and tourists. He said Arzanah would drive Abu Dhabi's growth.
"Through Arzanah, Mubadala will also help further drive the growth of Abu Dhabi's retail, healthcare, residential, entertainment, education and hospitality sectors, supporting the diversification of its economy in line with the government's vision."
Investment plots are available in Arzanah for third party developers to build schools.
