Meydan Sobha on Monday launched 217 freehold villas in phase three of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City's District One project.
The major attraction for potential homeowners is the availability of four- and five-bedroom villas built on attractive larger plots.
A joint venture project between the Meydan Group and the Sobha Group, Meydan Sobha has already sold out all villas in phases one and two. Handover of the villas is scheduled starting mid-2016.
Villas launched in the third phase will be ready in two to three years, Meydan chairman Saeed Humaid Al Tayer told reporters at a news conference in Dubai on Monday.
"This is an exciting project and we are delighted to launch the newest phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum City - District One, while reporting great progress on the first two phases," Al Tayer said.
P.N.C. Menon, Group chairman and founder of Sobha Group, said: "As a developer, we are committed to meeting our delivery schedule. Construction of both phase one and phase two of the project are progressing well. We expect keen demand for villas in phase three, as we are offering home owners bigger plots, a variety of new floor plans as well as the option to include a basement."
To ensure the 2018 handover date is met for phase three of District One, Meydan Sobha currently has more than 9,000 workers on site for the construction of the villas, with another 1,000 presently engaged in infrastructure works.
The Dh25 billion District One project, which was launched in 2013, is spread across 45 million square feet and will feature villas, parks and the world's largest man-made lagoon. The Crystal Lagoon will offer residents swimming, paddle boarding and other non-motorised aquatic leisure facilities and is anticipated to be ready by the end of the year.
What's new about District One
* The community will feature a 7km Crystal Lagoon with a 14km boardwalk. Upon completion, it is set to become the world's largest man-made Crystal lagoon.
* Over eight kilometres of cycling and running tracks will run the entire periphery of the development.
* The project is broken up into four phases, with total project completion date set for 2020.
* Phase 1 handover in mid-2016. Phase 2 handover in 2017. Phase 3 handover in 2018.
