Doha City Centre to be operated by German firm

DUBAI - An agreement was signed between Einkaufs-Centre-Entwicklung(ECE), the European market leader in the field of Inner City Shopping Centers and Faisal bin Qasim Al Thani & Sons Holding Co.(FBQHC) for City Centre-Doha.

This agreement is the first of its kind in the Middle East, since shopping centers are usually managed by their real estate investments engaged in the ownership or independently recruited employees.

FBQHC decided to contract a specialised company to operate the City Centre, Doha with a clear approach and commitment to manage spaces and changes in tenant mix and maintain a supply of retail anchors that is in line with shifting market demand.

Shaikh Faisal bin Qasim Al Thani on the occasion of signing the agreement, said: "The region is not what it used to be a few years ago. We own the biggest shopping center in the Middle East and continuously strive to bring added value to the development of City Centre, Doha. ECE is known for its management expertise and is considered number one in its region.''

ECE established in 1965 will start operating City Centre, Doha from March 1 and will expand its operations and services to the region following 40 successful years in Europe.

Mr Koprian, managing director of ECE, said: "City Centre, Doha has been a visionary landmark, and to maintain its position as the leader in the industry, ECE will draw on the collective experience of a professional team made up of center managers and leasing experts to ensure smooth operations.''
