Dual lens camera technology is becoming increasingly more popular and prevalent amongst the consumer technology industry's biggest players.
The innovation offers an enhanced photography experience for users to capture compelling imagery with the quality of a professional camera on their mobiles.
With this in mind, Huawei set out to set a new standard in dual-lens technology and collaborated with photography giant Leica Camera AG when developing their latest flagship device - the Huawei P9.
To learn more about this, Khaleej Times sat down with marketing director of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Middle East and Africa Myriam Benaroya to better understand just what the Huawei P9 has in store for users.
Explaining the reason what drove Huawei to collaborate with Leica Camera AG, Benaroya said: "As part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best in class technology, Huawei partnered with Leica Camera AG to co-engineer the dual-lens technology available on our P9."
She added that Leica was chosen because they are known for fine German craftsmanship and reliable quality, it has been held as a legendary brand in the world of photography for decades.
By integrating the design values and engineering excellence of Huawei and Leica in a smartphone photography system co-engineered by the two companies, the P9 brings together utmost hardware and software, from optical lenses, to sensors, to image processing algorithms, empowering users to capture the highest-quality images.
Besides the classic Leica camera user interface, the P9 camera focusing feature is based on three methodologies - laser, depth calculation and contrast - and automatically selects the one that yields the best result in any given environment.
The dual-lens camera wide-aperture with artistic bokeh effects (F/0.95- F/16) also enable users to set a professional mode or RAW format output to support in any post-production.
The authentic Black and White photography with dedicated monochrome sensors work in tandem to offer the best image quality and the three Leica classic film modes make for more stylish photos in vivid and true-to-life colors.
At IFA 2016, which concluded on September 7, Huawei unveiled its limited edition P9 colours. Inspired by the dramatic and colourful world of the Pop Art movement, these vibrant colours also reflect the passion and glamour of the fashion world and given the regional market's affinity for fashion and style.
"We wanted to offer our customers something they would relate to. These colours were predicted to dominate 2016/2017 collection catwalks and so the cutting-edge Huawei P9 in Red and Blue are sure to be a style statement," she said.
