Forget Santorini, the Maldives, Bora Bora and the Caribbean. Newlyweds are all set to get a new destination in Dubai to celebrate their honeymoon.
St Petersburg Island, one of six clusters in The Heart of Europe project, will now be developed as an exclusive honeymoon resort, a first for the UAE.
The Heart of Europe located on The World Islands is expected to further bolster Dubai's credentials in the luxury tourism industry.
Designed in the shape of a heart, St Petersburg Island will be surrounded by 90 floating seahorse villas, each connected to the island via floating jetties. The villas boast an underwater level and submerged bedrooms and bathrooms - offering views of the surrounding coral garden and marine life.
Kleindienst, the developer of The Heart of Europe, believes St Petersburg Island will become particularly popular with residents from the GCC and Middle East.
The destination, located 6.5km from the coast of Dubai, it will offer newly-weds a combination of an island retreat and a Dubai city break. The island will feature a 24/7 butler service, an infinity pool, shallow lagoons, lush tropical gardens, a pool bar and restaurant. Snorkelling and diving activities will be available, along with spa facilities.
Josef Kleindienst, chairman of The Heart of Europe, said: "St Petersburg Island will be a dream destination for couples and newlyweds. The five-star resort will offer privacy, tranquility and first-class hospitality to ensure a memorable experience. The honeymoon business is a multi-billion dollar industry."
Guests will be able to access St Petersburg Island by helicopter, seaplane or boat. Honeymoon bookings at the St Petersburg Resort will open soon.
Other islands in The Heart of Europe include Sweden, Germany, Main Europe, Switzerland and Monaco. Guests at St Petersburg can also access Main Europe and Switzerland. Main Europe, the largest island in The Heart of Europe, is proposed as the hub among all clusters. It will feature luxury hotels, marinas, cafes, restaurants, boutiques and climate-controlled streets.
"The Heart of Europe will be a unique holiday destination providing an experience of some of Europe's most charming features, added Kleindienst.
The six islands will be home to a variety of hotels, climate-controlled plazas, European cafes and restaurants, boutiques, live entertainment and much more," added Kleindienst.
While Switzerland is expected to host snow-lined streets, a permanent circus and a mountain spa, Monaco will include Club B, a members' only beach club, a yacht-lined harbour and nightclubs and Germany will feature beach villas and host themed events, including Oktoberfest.
