The deal was won by iGATE Patni — an integrated technology and operations brand proving business outcomes-based solutions with over three decades of experience — over 13 other bidders. The two-year contract has begun recently and will be run by a 50-strong team based on- and offshore.

The new platform includes Oracle ERP and business intelligence, as well as planning and forecasting solutions from Hyperion, a software company under the Oracle umbrella.

Galadari — one of the largest and most well-known business organisations in the UAE — comprises of companies operating in the automobile, industrial trading, media, retail, engineering, hospitality, real estate, travel and tourism sectors. Its highly-diverse units publish the UAE’s first English newspaper, Khaleej Times, distribute JCB and Komatsu heavy equipment, and operate regional franchises for Baskin Robbins.

“We are very clear about our reasons for choosing iGATE Patni from our original shortlist of 14 companies; it was much less to do with whether iGATE Patni was able to point to other implementations of the same technology and much more to do with the fact that our team believed that we could trust the iGATE Patni team over anyone else that we met,” Galadari group information technology manager Alaa El Tahir said.

He added that with Galadari’s large and relatively complex business with multiple brands, the firm needed a single ERP system to replace different bespoke systems that were developed originally to meet the needs of individual organisations, and iGATE Patni “showed the right level of interest and technical capability to deliver the solutions we needed.”

“We are delighted to announce this new contract with Galadari, which extends our rapidly-growing customer base in the Middle East region,” iGATE Patni Europe, Middle East and Africa President Derek Kemp said.

“Galadari has an interesting business model with a wide range of processes, from logistics to manufacturing through retail and publishing. It is one of the largest and most diverse groups in the region, yet needed to implement a single ERP platform based on Oracle and Hyperion that would give it a single view of the company,” he added.

iGATE Patni is the common brand identity of two organisations as the result of Patni Computer Systems Ltd’s acquisition by iGATE Corp. It provides full-spectrum consulting, technology, business process and product engineering outsourcing services on a business outcomes-based model.

The company is powered by over 26,000 employees consistently delivering solutions to over 360 Fortune 100 companies across various verticals.
