Honor on Thursday officially launched the long awaited honor 9 smartphone in the UAE - its flagship device targeted towards those that are young at heart.
The honor 9 has been designed with millennials' fast paced lives in mind, boasting an upgraded 20MP + 12MP dual-lens camera, improved audio quality, a Kirin 960 chipset, 6GB RAM, and EMUI 5.1 robust processing core that guarantees powerful performance. The device comes in 128GB and 6GB storage with an expandable storage option of upto 256GB - giving digital natives the freedom to explore more, accommodate their busy lifestyle and enhance their technology experience.
The phone also boasts an ultra-modern 3D glass back made up of 15 meticulously crafted layers and a sandblasted metal bezel that creates a subtle aurora effect. Available in two shades 'Glacier Grey' and 'Sapphire Blue', prices start from Dh1,599. The phone will be available online at Souq.com and across all major retailers starting Friday.
"Our feedback shows us that users love the beauty of the honor brand. The language that we use to talk to them is very passionate, and as with any digital native, it resonates with them. The only competition that we have is ourselves, and so it is important for us to push ourselves to the extreme of innovation and product quality," Chris Sun Baigong, VP of honor in MEA region, told Khaleej Times at the launch.
Asked about the response that the phone had received upon its launch in China, he revealed that the phone had already sold over a million units in 28 days, and that the company was confident that the success would continue as the phone is launched in different markets. "Younger users love phones that allow them to do more and with better performance. All of this is embedded in the Honor DNA. With our focus on innovation, I believe that the phone will resonate very well with users in the market. We are expecting a 50 per cent growth over last year."
Speaking on the decision to launch the product both in stores and with an online retailer, Baigong said: "As honor, we cherish our partnership with various channels. We have been working with Souq.com for a long time and we wanted to utilise their expertise to reach out to our customers in the region. In addition to being able to purchase the device online, we wanted to give users a chance to get a physical feel of the phone and its various functions, so starting from September 15, 2017, the device will be available at various retailers across the UAE."
