These surgeries were performed by eminent gyne/laparoscopic surgeons Dr Hafeez Rahman - founder/chairman; Dr Nikita Trehan - managing director of Sunrise Group of Hospitals and Dr Alphy S. Puthiyidom under the aegis of Minimally Invasive Surgery Institute Internationale (MISII).
Few of the live surgeries performed were as follows:
. Key hole operations of uterus, fibroids (tumours).
. Key hole operations of tubes.
. Key hole operations for pelvic diseases and poor urine control in females.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Hafeez Rahman said that we would like to share our experience and expertise in gynae/laparoscopic surgeries across the UAE and the globe and what better way to do it than conducting live surgery workshops where doctors can get hands on experience in performing these surgeries. He further stated that some of the surgical techniques utilised in these laparoscopic surgical procedures were pioneered by us known as the 'Sunrise Technique' making the procedures easier to perform, safer and with better clinical outcomes.
The moderators for this event held at International Modern Hospital, Dubai were:
Dr Josephine Jose, consultant and head, dept of Obs and Gyne; Dr Preeti Tandon and Dr Sagimole Tojichen, laparoscopic surgeons at IMH.
Around 60 doctors from all over the UAE attended the live pelvic surgery lectures here in Dubai and around 500 doctors from all over India attended workshop in New Delhi and gained valuable insight to perform laparoscopic surgical procedures.
Dr Kishan Pakkal, CEO of IMH, said the live demo workshops are in line with the vision of the rulers of the country to develop medical tourism in a bid to establish the UAE as a centre point of excellence in healthcare.
