This tender worth $15 million, is part of ADC's comprehensive development plan to revitalise and develop marine facilities and logistics services in Aqaba over a period of 15 years.

Lamnalco will be responsible for managing and operating various marine services such as towing, pilotage, maintaining the slipway and ports tidal heights as well as disposing of waste. In addition a range of other support services will be undertaken, such as safeguarding the vessels, operating the ships maintenance workshop, firefighting and maintaining marine life around the port. All these services will be made available to all port users.

Lamnalco and JNSL will also introduce advanced operating systems, recruit qualified Jordanian nationals to work at the port and provide employees with training both in Jordan and abroad. In addition it will be required to enhance the safety procedures for ships, goods and passengers in line with international agreements.

The new venture is part of ADC's strategy to accelerate the implementation of the master plan to develop the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) as a business hub.

The Aqaba Ports Corporation will continue to handle all responsibilities including managing the port, the coastal communication station, the Prince Hamzeh Centre for Pollution Control and other master services, in addition to managing and operating all of the ports facilities, except for the container terminals.
