The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that it has concluded its participation at the retail trade fair 'EuroShop 2020', which took place in Düsseldorf, Germany, between February 16-20.
EuroShop 2020 united 2,300 exhibitors from 60 countries and attracted 600 speakers and more than 114,000 visitors. Delegates explored the latest innovations, technologies, and visions shaping the global retail sector.
Headed by Hisham Al Shirawi, second vice chairman, Dubai Chamber, the UAE delegation brought together representatives from leading retailers such as Choithrams, Aswaaq Retail, Seddiqi Holding, Cityland, Giordano, Tables, Marina Retail Corporation and Max Fashion (part of the Landmark Group). Al Shirawi held a series of meetings with prominent and influential leaders from the global retail sector who were taking part in the exhibition.
"EuroShop 2020 comes at a time when the global retail sector is steadily embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, which have revamped the sector, inside and out, rendering it more competitive and better prepared to meet consumers' preferences around the world," he said. "The shift towards e-commerce was a result of consumers' growing preference for mediums that provide them with customised experiences. Retailers in Dubai must innovate their products and offerings to remain competitiveness in the market."
Dubai is a leading destination for regional and international retailers with its fast-growing retail environment, robust spending from tourists, growing e-commerce industry, and strong presence of respected local and international brands, he added. "Furthermore, there is the fast-approaching Expo 2020, which is projected to attract 20 million visitors, setting the stage for new opportunities for growth in the retail sector."
