DUBAI — As many as 17 Indian engineering goods manufacturers under the umbrella of Engineering Exports Promotion Council, or EEPC, are participating in this year’s Big 5 (Plant, Machinery & Vehicles) Expo.
CAPEXIL, or Chemicals & Allied Products Export Promotion Council, is also fielding 8 exhibitors, focusing on the building and construction industries.
Textile machinery, engineering components, hydraulic systems, calibration technologies, concrete batching technologies and builders’ hardware are among the products showcased by the EEPC. While these premier export councils are marking their presence for the first time in Big 5, the total number of Indian companies participating is 51.
UAE is the biggest market for Indian engineering goods in the West Asia and North Africa region representing nearly 75 per cent of India’s exports to the GCC countries. Export of engineering items to this region during 2008-09 stood at $3022 million which was a growth of 16.02 per cent over the figures for 2007-08. UAE ranks second after USA as market for Indian engineering goods and Indian exports to UAE account for approximately 6 per cent of its global exports.
The EEPC, a nodal organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, covers the entire spectrum of engineering industry and has nearly 13,000 member firms.
