Dubai — Xpelair Middle East, a joint venture between Kingston Holdings and Glen Dimplex of Ireland, on Tuesday expanded its product portfolio with the launch of a whole range of household appliances, catering equipment and medical refrigeration appliances.
Gerald Nash, Minister of State from Ireland, unveiled the new product range manufactured mostly in the UK and Ireland by Glen Dimplex, the largest Irish multinational, at a function held at Xpelair Middle East headquarters at Sharjah Airport Free (Saif) Zone.
Present at the event hosted by Lalu Samuel, chairman and managing director of Xpelair Middle East and Kingston Holdings, were Patrick Hennessy, Irish Ambassador to the UAE; Julie Sinammon, CEO, Enterprise Ireland; Sean Davis, Director, Enterprise Ireland; Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director General, Saif Zone; Hussain Mahmoodi, Director General, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Marwan J. Al Sarkal, chief executive officer, Shurooq.
The brands unveiled included Morphy Richards, Belling, Stoves, LEC, New World, Burco, Nobo and Creda. Morphy Richards is a British brand that sells over four million appliances every year. The product range includes kettles, toasters and slow cookers, coffee makers, irons and steam generators to vacuum cleaners and food processors. The entire range of products will be distributed through Xpelair Middle East.
Xpelair was launched in the UAE in 2014 and covers India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, the GCC, the Middle East and African and Central Asian countries. Minister Nash said the partnership between Glen Dimplex and Kingston Holdings was significant as it reflects the continued success of Irish companies in winning business in the region. “I want to congratulate the teams involved in launching these new products into this important market,” he said.
Samuel said the launch would allow the group to reach more customers and make their everyday life more convenient, efficient and comfortable. “The significant expansion in the range of products includes catering equipment and medical refrigeration, tailored to commercial and industrial sectors. Glen Dimplex has been the market leader in medical refrigeration, delivering a range of purpose-built products for use in areas such as pharmacies, medical laboratories and wards.”
Samuel said Glen Dimplex is an undisputed name in the field of domestic appliances, cooling, ventilation and energy solutions. “Glen Dimplex’s energy-efficient products redefine customer experience in functionality and design and can be integrated seamlessly into modern households,” he added.
Samuel said with an experience spanning more than a century, Glen Dimplex has been the pioneer in serving the commercial catering market, with an energy-efficient range of products such as fridges, freezers and bottle coolers. By laying a strong emphasis on renewable energy solutions, the company has widened its wings to encompass commercial and industrial brands too, he said.
Kingston Holdings, the largest investor in the Saif Zone, currently exports its products to over 100 countries, including the UK, Canada and Ireland, apart from the GCC, Africa and the Indian Sub-continent, said Samuel.
The group has three multinational joint ventures. These include with Pierlite Australia, GP Batteries of Hong Kong and Glen Dimplex. The flagship brand of the group is Rexton from the UK.
Founded in 1996, Kingston Holdings manufactures over 1,200 electrical products, including light fittings and air movement products under the Rexton, Clipsal and Pierlite brands. Rexton has over 700 products that are distributed worldwide. Kingston’s facility in the Saif Zone includes one million sq ft land, 750,000 sq ft of built-up area, with a 70,000 sq ft energy-efficient and environment-compliant headquarters, said Samuel.
