Oman's foreign trade has recorded an increase of 16 per cent in 2003 and this is also a step forward supported by the government of Oman.
Nisreen Ahmed Jaffer, director of exports development, Ociped told Khaleej Times: "This event is exclusively for importers and foreign investments in the non-oil products category. This is a government-based organisation and this will provide opportunities for the exporters of Oman to sell their products to the importers in Dubai and from Dubai these products will be resold to other countries and boost the bilateral trade between UAE and Oman.''
This event was attended by all the companies dealing with food products from Oman and the UAE.
They discussed issues relating to food industry and exchanged views regarding the future business prospects.
The Omani Centre for Investment Promotion & Export Development also provides the exporters the basic knowledge about trade rules and regulations. Apart from this, the centre also does large scale market research and explore various opportunities for strengthening its trade with other countries and increase the non-oil sector's profit in the national economy.
According to Aiman Ambusaidi, marketing researcher with Ociped: " This organisation also provides logistic support to the traders and has one commercial office in Iran and also participated in the trade mission held in Kenya. Alongwith this, Ociped invites buyers and importers in Oman and give full information about the latest business ventures in Oman."
This Buyer-Seller meet held for the first time was organised by Market Vision after extensive research and food products was chosen first as Oman's food industry is producing one of the best quality products in all segments with the latest technology and taking health and hygiene into main considerations.
Gautam Sen Gupta, director of Market Vision, concluded saying that, after this event, many more events are in the pipeline which will definitely boost the trade relations between both the countries and increase the profits of the various companies involved actively in export-import business.
