Panasonic will bring its advanced innovations and technologies showcased at the 'Stadium of Wonders' in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, during the Olympic Games to the UAE at the forthcoming Gitex Technology Week in Dubai.
Panasonic signed a partnership agreement with Sugarloaf Mountain located in the Urca district of Rio de Janeiro, a close neighborhood of Copacabana to set up and open its corporate pavilion, called 'Stadium of Wonders,' from August 7-21, 2016 to welcome visitors during the Rio 2016 Olympics.
"Panasonic's corporate pavilion at the historic Sugarloaf Mountain provided a brilliant insight of the 25-plus-year support to the Olympic Games through its cutting edge technologies to welcome visitors to the games," Anthony Peter, director of corporate communications and operations division at Panasonic Marketing Middle East and Africa, told Khaleej Times.
With a floor area of roughly 500sqm, the pavilion screened visual content accumulated over Panasonic's 25-plus-year support of the Olympic Games, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Rio 2016 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Rio 2016).
In addition, the pavilion featured presentations employing Panasonic's proprietary technology such as Optical ID technology and transparent displays, as well as interactive exhibits to experience the Olympic competition through the athletes' eyes. The company planned to amplify the excitement for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games through this undertaking, and strengthen relationships with Olympic organisations and partner companies of future competitions like the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
"Our customers in the region will be lucky to see amazing technologies like the optical light ID technology, transparent displays and other exciting innovative, visual and communications solutions during the Gitex Technology Week to be held in Dubai from October 16-20 this year," Peter explained.
Among other endeavors, Panasonic has entered into an AV technology partnership agreement with Rio 2016, as technical partner of the torch relay to facilitate the torch relay for the first time in its sponsorship history. Panasonic exhibited the torch from the past Olympic Games inside, and presented information and video content pertaining to the torch relay of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the Stadium of Wonders.
Gitex is one of the largest tech events on the planet. This year Gitex is reimagining realities with new sectors: virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, wearables, smart living and digital marketing.
