RAS AL KHAIMAH - On a recent visit Prince Andrew, Duke of York, visited the soon to open Tower Links Golf Course in Ras Al Khaimah.
His visit to the course included a special palm tree planting ceremony attended by the course's owner, Shaikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi along with his brother, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi.
The palm tree is located on the first tee of the back nine and will be identified with a commemorative plaque. According to Colin Baxter, managing director of Hydroturf, project managers of the course, "we were all delighted with the opportunity to invite Prince Andrew to the course and very grateful for the time he spent with us during his busy schedule. We all sensed that he enjoyed the visit and the photos taken will be presented in the club house when it's completed next spring".
Tower Links Golf Club is an 18 hole; Par 72 Golf course and Golf Academy complete with driving range and short game facilities. Nine holes and the practice facilities will have floodlighting for night play.
The course is 7,200 yards in length with four tees: professional, men, seniors and ladies, therefore providing tee-off opportunities for all standards of play.
Even though this is primarily a tourist course with a variety of risk and reward challenges - Tower Links will however, when played from the back tees become a championship course.
