Qatar Airways opens new Islamabad office

ISLAMABAD - A senior delegation of Qatar Airways representatives officially opened the airline's new office in Islamabad earlier this week and officially inaugurated its new twice-weekly Islamabad service that began on April 1.

The delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker, also included the General Manager Commercial Mohamed Saleh Fakhri and Senior Manager Commercial Operations - East Ali Al Rais. The Minister of Tourism in Pakistan Rais Munir Ahmed, the Qatari Ambassador to Pakistan Abdulla Flah Abdulla Al-Dosari, and the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways Akbar Al Baker officially inaugurated the Doha - Islamabad route with the opening of Qatar Airways' new office. The Chief guest of the ceremony was Mr. Muhammad Mian Somroo Chairman Senate. Al Baker said Islamabad represented the airlines 49th international destination, and the fourth destination in Pakistan, after Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.

"This route reflects Qatar Airways' strong commitment to serve the people of Pakistan and provide a direct route from our country to the capital city of Pakistan. Via Doha International Airport, we will be able to connect the people of Islamabad to all of our 48 existing destinations. By the end of the year 2005, we will be able to offer connections to 70 destinations around the globe," he said. "We have been intending to open this service for a long time, and it is very satisfying that we are flying into Islamabad two times per week. Together with other regular services to Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, we offer 13 direct flights between Qatar and Pakistan every week," Al Baker said.
