NEW YORK — Qatari shares rose to the highest in a year on speculation companies will report strong third-quarter earnings. Industries Qatar and Qatar National Bank led the gains.
The Doha Securities Market Index advanced 1.2 per cent to 8,097, its highest close since July 13, 2006. The measure increased 10 per cent this quarter. "Foreign investors are entering the market,"' said Bashar F. Issa, an analyst at Dlala Brokerage & Investment Holding Co. in Doha. "They expect third-quarter results, which will start coming out next week, to be very encouraging."
