Sharjah hosts 'The Spirit of Fitness'

Sharjah - The proposed run which is named as 'The Spirit Of Fitness' will be held today at 8.00am.

As the prevalence of obesity in UAE is significantly rising Sharjah Municipality has decided to call the pied piper back to the job. It announced its first ever marathon in collaboration with Telephony Communication Technologies, supported by Sharjah Police, Department of Shuruq, and Department of Public Health.
The proposed run which is named as 'The Spirit Of Fitness' will be held today at 8.00am. The short distance marathon will be flagged off from Sharjah central Souk, take the course through the main street of Buhairah Cornice and end at The Sharjah Amphitheatre.
Ali Obaid Ali, the head of public relations section, Sharjah Municipality, said: "We are conducting this event to comply to the decree from the office of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to conduct the marathon in various emirates.
Muhammed Shefiq, COO, Telephony communications, said: "Being a organisation committed to social responsibilities Telephony will continue to support Sharjah Municipality in its endeavours to promote awareness on healthy living and well being of its citizens."
