The 39th MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show opened doors on Tuesday with 50 per cent bigger space and the world's heaviest gold ring is also on display for the first time at the show.
Jewellery lovers have a lot to look forward to as the region's most anticipated jewellery event got under way at Expo Centre Sharjah.
The five-day jewellery show was opened by Shaikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
"We are one of the pioneers in the Middle East and Africa and our show is growing year-on-year. We are the only organiser in the world that has jewellery show twice in a year," Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, told Khaleej Times after the opening.
"It's B2B and B2C both. Fluctuation in gold rates will attract more buyers this year at the show," Al Midfa explained. He informed that India and Italy pavilion have more companies than last year at the show. India pavilion has 70 companies and Italy 28, he added.
The event is showcasing gold & diamond jewellery, diamonds, precious stones, pearls and watches from leading jewellers from across the world, offering special deals on high-value purchases, exclusive National Pavilions from India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore & Italy, and customisation opportunities, among other.
"The autumn edition of MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show has always been seen as a platform to kick-start a season of sales for jewellers. The market is conducive for a rise in demand for gold and diamond jewellery, given the low gold prices, and the beginning of the festival season for several expatriate communities," said Midfa.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
