The Emirates Group will post "good results" for its 2017-18 financial years, said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, chief executive of Emirates airline and Group, chairman of Dubai Airports and patron of the Airport Show.
"It will be good results for the company and the employees," Sheikh Ahmed told reporters on the sidelines of the Airport Show at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Emirates Group will announce its results on Wednesday.
Referring to a recent meeting between various high-level Dubai government officials, Sheikh Ahmed said the meeting went very well and the objective was to push every entity in the government to exert more effort to bring in more traffic and business to the emirate.
"The meeting went very well. It involved all departments within the Dubai government. The meeting was to push everybody to bring in more traffic and business to Dubai. You always need the private and public sectors as well as the federal and local governments to be there to support any initiative," Sheikh Ahmed said.
Earlier, Sheikh Ahmed inaugurated the 18th edition of the Airport Show. The event 2018 brings together over 350 companies showcasing their latest technology, innovation and product offerings for the aviation industry.
Senior UAE and GCC government officials are attending the 3-day exhibition. They include Mohammed Abdullah Ahli, director-general, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Paul Griffiths, CEO, Dubai Airports; Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni, CEO, Oman Airports Management Company; Mohammed Al BinFalah, CEO, Bahrain Airport Company; and Peter Harbison, executive chairman, Capa - Centre for Aviation.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, forums will be held to discuss various issues including the role of women in the aviation industry where internationally renowned speakers, including regional aviation leaders, will set the stage for greater career opportunities for Arab women across the aviation and aerospace industries.
In addition, a number of other issues such as privatisation of airports and smart airports will be discussed during the conferences.
