"aeCERT constitutes a cyber security coordination centre in the UAE. This initiative will facilitate the detection, prevention and response to the broader set of cyber security incidents on the Internet," said Mohamed Al Ghanim, TRA Board Member & Director General.
"aeCERT will, by no doubt, enhance cyber security law," Al Ghanim added, "it will enhance information security awareness across the UAE and will build national expertise in information security, incident management and computer forensics," said Al Ghanim.
"aeCERT will also provide a central trusted point of contact for cyber security incident reporting in the UAE and will establish a national centre to disseminate information about threats, vulnerabilities and cyber security incidents," Al Ghanim continued.
"It will foster the establishment of and provide assistance to sector-based Computer Security Incidents Research Teams (CSIRTs), will coordinate with domestic and international CSIRTs and related organisations, and will present a proactive and structured approach to deter future cyber security incidents,"Al Ghanim concluded.
In this respect, Mohammed Gheyath, Director of Technical Affairs at the TRA, stated: "Symantec is considered one of the leading companies worldwide regarding information security solutions, database sensors, exposure to CERT Generic Processes, Standard CERT Procedures, and Standard CERT Operation Mechanisms." Gheyath elaborated, stating, "The TRA technical team will work closely with the consultancy in setting up of the hardware, software and applications, along with the processes of setting the performance of the functions of the aeCERT."
Fatma Bazargan, TRA Network and Security Engineer, said: "Symantec knowledge will help us in setting up the performance, including setting up the teams for each function and the process of each function."
