Imports from the UAE to Hong Kong grew at 2.5 per cent over the last year to $3.3 billion.
Abdul Aziz Nasser, deputy director for Middle East at HKTDC, said 20 exhibitors and more than 2,000 buyers from the UAE took part in the HKTDC International Exhibitions during 2017. He expects these numbers to grow next year as the UAE economy grows and regional geopolitics is also expected to improve.
"With seven global trade events, we are offering ideal platforms for traders and suppliers from the UAE to expand their businesses into new markets. The UAE and Hong Kong have enjoyed robust trade relations on a range of products and services over the years," he said.
"We look forward to receiving more Emirati companies to explore business opportunities and tap global markets through HKTDC exhibitions. The trade fairs target buyers, distributors and retailers from the UAE to come to Hong Kong for sourcing. The HKTDC organised 30 trade fairs in 2017 that attracted over 36,000 exhibitors and over 700,000 visitors," he added.
