The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) has received a formal invitation to join the high-level Broadband Commission for Digital Development.
The invitation comes from Paul Kagame, president of the Republic of Rwanda, delivered on behalf of Houlin Zhao, International Telecommunications Union (ITU) secretary general and Irina Bokova, director general of Unesco.
The commission is one of the joint-international committees between the ITU and Unesco that aims to boost the importance of broadband on the international policy agenda and expand broadband access globally to accelerate progress towards the Millennium Development Goals. The invitation also includes a participation in the commission's next gathering to be held on September 26, 2015 in New York city.
