UAE needs to boost trade with S E Asia

DUBAI - UAE needs to consolidate its trade with the South East Asian countries to strengthen its image in the international market and on powerful platforms such as WTO, said Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

Al Midfa said: "Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah (CCFS) 2004, its third edition, is an established and highly effective platform for Chinese companies that are keen to establish their foothold in the region. For companies based in the Middle East and wanting to join hands with Chinese enterprises, the CCFS is the most comprehensive offering of Chinese products and services under a single umbrella. The CCFS has so far played a vital role in boosting bilateral relations between the UAE and China."

China's largest trade fair in the Middle East, the Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah (CCFS) 2004, was inaugurated yesterday at Expo Centre Sharjah by Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Yu Ping, vice chairman, China Council for the promotion of international trade. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa – Chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Mohammed Salem Al Mosharrekh - Board Member (SCCI) and Fasahat Ali Khan, Acting Director General of Expo Centre Sharjah, members of a high ranking delegation from China, directors of various government departments and members of the diplomatic corps and trade associations.

The five-day solo country event is sponsored by the People's Republic of China's Ministry of Commerce.
