Vidya Chhabria among Fortune's top 50 most powerful Business women

Vidya Chhabria, Chairperson of the Jumbo Group, has once again featured in the Fortunes global list of top 50 most powerful women in business.

Chhabria who was on the list at number 44 in 2002 has climbed to number 38 this year.

Fortune valued the women based on the size and importance of their business, their power in the company, how quickly they have risen in their career, where they are likely to go, and their influence on mass culture and society. Chhabria who took over the reigns of the $2 billion Jumbo Group after the demise of her husband in April 2002 has taken the group from strength to strength over the previous year.


Under her leadership the Shaw Wallace business has forged a joint venture with SAB Miller in South Africa.

In the UAE, Jumbo Electronics has also maintained a healthy growth through venturing out into different businesses and moving towards being an integrated systems solution provider under the banner 'Jumbo Engineering.'

Jumbo Engineering supplied the complete IT infrastructure for the prestigious IMF Ð World Bank Conference - Dubai 2003 held in Dubai this year. Chhabria is assisted by two of her daughters.
