Chauhan, Ali and Fernandes to perform at the legendary composer’s Dubai concert

Mohit Chauhan, Javed Ali and Remo Fernandes are the big names who will join A.R. Rahman on stage for his ‘A.R. Rahman - The Man, The Music, The Legend’ concert at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai Sports City, on Friday, December 9.

Chauhan started his career singing Indian pop. He never received formal training in music, but sings and plays guitar, harmonica and the flute. After completing his education in Himachal, Chauhan went to Delhi where he formed the band Silk Route with his schoolmate Kem Trevedi in 1996.

The band launched two albums in 1998 and had a massive hit with Dooba Dooba from the number one album Boondhein. In Bollywood, his career started when A. R. Rahman, impressed by his vocals, approached him to sing Khoon Chala in the movie Rang De Basanti. Since then, he has performed a number of hits, and is mainly known for his romantic ballads.

Javed Ali is the son of popular Qawaali singer Ustad Hamid Hussain. Javed debuted by singing a track from the movie Beti No.1. After that, he was noted for his rendering of the Punjabi-based track Nagaada Nagaada in the 2007 movie Jab We Met.

However, he shot to real fame in 2008 with the song Jashn-E-Bahaaraan in the magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar, with the music composed by A.R. Rahman. Javed also struck a chord with another single composed by A.R. Rahman called Guzarish, that includes guest vocals of Sonu Niigaam in Ghajini. He has won many awards and was also part of A. R. Rahman’s Jai Ho world tour in 2010.

Remo Fernandes is a popular stage performer in India, and has also taken part in many music festivals around the world. He writes and sings his songs in five different languages: English, Hindi, French, Portuguese and Konkani.

In 1995, Remo moved into Hindi pop and film music to become a playback singer, by teaming up with the legendary director Mani Ratnam and A.R. Rahman. He sang Humma Humma in the Hindi version of the hit movie they produced, Bombay. The song went on to reach double platinum status.

The A.R. Rahman World Tour will be a theatrical experience that will feature changing sets, LED screens and a spectacular cast of musicians and dancers from across the globe.
