Several decades after the Titanic sank like a stone to the Atlantic's ocean floor, Hollywood excavated it in the form of a blockbuster and gave it the top of the mind recall with audiences all across the globe.

From that time onwards, Titanic refuses to sink from the public memory, and now with the Hard Rock Café announcing its latest promotion it will be quite some time before people can get over it. To celebrate it's seventh anniversary, Hard Rock Café is giving people across the Middle East a chance to go on a 12-day Ocean expedition — a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the wreck of the ill-fated ship. For something as little as Dh100 to be spent on food, soft drinks and merchandise at the outlets, one lucky winner could win himself a round air trip to Canada, a twelve-day ocean voyage and a seat on the MIR submersible.

The promotion that was kicked off yesterday promises to create a buzz unlike ever before, says John Hall, general manager, Hard Rock Café, Dubai. "The brand exemplifies everything that is young, exciting, adventurous and full of fun.While last year we offered our customers a chance to experience zero-gravity, this time we decided to top that with a 'Titanic' adventure." And there are indications that next time around it will be event more exciting. "We are thinking something on lines of 'code-breaking', an adventure inspired by Dan Brown's best-selling The Da Vinci Code.

Partnering the promotion is Australian adventurer Mike McDowell's outfit Deep Ocean Expedition (DOE), which has undertaken several diving expeditions, the first to the wreck of the RMS Titanic, located at a depth of 12,000 feet. The idea behind DOE is to educate lay people about the mysteries that lie is the deep, besides help support scientific research. The Titanic expedition includes a team of experts and lecturers who will help the winner understand the submersible submarine and the seas around him.
