Independent art collective Jamm is set to showcase the works of award-winning architect, artist and jewellery designer, Andre C. Meyerhans.
Among the Swiss native’s pieces coming to Toby Arts in Al Quoz will be the Masharabia Cube, a highly geometrical structure whose arrangement resembles an early style of Islamic calligraphy.
Andre’s creations range from 250,000-metre-squared urban plans and billion-dollar mixed-use developments to furniture-like objects, art and jewellery.
His projects include the New Garhoud Bridge in Dubai and the Al Nadi Tower in Abu Dhabi.
“My artwork represents a part of a larger research to develop a contemporary design language for the Middle Eastern region,” said Andre. “The approach focuses on analysing geometric elements and their underlying principles. By combining historic and contemporary attributes, a locally rooted, new design language emerges.”
The exhibition will run from May 2 to 15 at the newly opened venue in Warehouse 11, open midday to 7pm, Sunday to Thursday.
