DUBAI IS undoubtedly a fashion aficionado’s paradise. Be it high street fashion or haute couture from some of the best international fashion houses of the world - designer clothes and accessories are easily available in the umpteen malls around this city. All for a price of course.

And when it comes to Indian designers, the expatriate population in Dubai could not have asked for anything better. While many like Manish Malhotra, JJ Vallaya, Malini Ramani and Tarun Tahiliani already have dedicated stores selling their designer creations here, many others hold frequent exhibitions to showcase their designs for their clients.

One such popular designer is Bennu Sehgall. For the uninitiated she was the designer whose ensemble model Carol Gracias was showing off the ramp when a ‘malfunction’ revealed a bit more than was expected during a recent Lakme Fashion Show in India.

But now the designer is here to showcase her original creations at the FAE boutique. With over 25 years of experience in the fashion industry, Bennu has carved a niche for herself among the top designers of the country. Specialising in bridal designs, her creations are heavily underlined with a classic and elegant style. Her heavily embellished collection is especially suited for formal occasions like weddings and engagements.

But for this two-day trunk show, Bennu will be showcasing a limited edition collection featuring mainly clothes in Arabic styles with lots of kaftans, jalabiyas and saris thrown in for good measure.

“The colour palette is mainly nude with lots of earthy hues like browns and peaches,” according to Rajiv Nihalani of FAE boutique. “The price range for the whole collection is Dh1,500-3,500.”

The designer has so far showcased her collection twice before in Dubai.
