The long wait for Adele fans may very well be over. During a commercial break for The X Factor U.K. on Sunday, a mysterious 30-second ad played a snippet with accompanying lyrics of a song, for which the ad didn't mention the artist or title. But Adele's powerful vocals are unmistakable, undoubtedly fueling the fires of Internet speculation on when her new music might drop.
It has been almost five years since Adele released her Grammy-sweeping album 21, which sold a whopping 4.6 million copies in the U.K. and 11 million in the U.S. While rumours have swirled that her next, highly anticipated album will be released in November, her label, Sony Music Entertainment, has yet to confirm the date. Further fuelling speculation, later on Sunday, band One Republic, whose frontman Ryan Tedder frequently collaborates with Adele, tweeted simply, "Adele :)"
Adele's rep did not immediately respond to request for comment. Twitter accounts for The X Factor and Adele have also not commented on the possible preview.
