youngsters orgnaised a novel event called Star Lab during the weeklong Knowledge Surprises from August 3 to August 9. Children interested in astro science and the vast universe around us couldn’t have asked for more.

The Star Lab at Bin Sougat Centre offered everything a child wants to know about the universe. The experts present guided the curious little children through the milky way and gave them the lowdown about the planets and different galaxies around us. A presentation designed to inform children about the moon, the solar system and eclipses, etc., was a big draw with the kids who couldn’t stop asking questions which were all answered in turns by the experts.

Sultan Ibrahim, Deputy Head of Knowledge Surprises Organising Committee said that this is the first participation for Dubai’s Land Department in the DSS activities.

"We were keen that our participation would be distinguished with creativity and fun. We have built a dome where an informational and scientific programme is performed. This programme covers information about outer space, the solar system, stars and planets," he said.

"The idea of such an astronomical dome during Knowledge Surprises week, comes in the context of our wanting children to obtain more information about outer space,” he added.

Ibrahim also said that this Dome was the first of its kind, where it offers easy and simple scientific information by experts in different fields.

Saeed Al Mansoury, 13, said that thanks to the Star Lab he was now able to understand solar eclipses and why they happened.
