They're regular fixtures on the inspirational talk calendar andFlow at Jumeirah Emirates Towers' schedule is not about to be interrupted. The healthy-eating hub is bringing the spirit of Ramadan to UAE residents via a series of virtual talks led by inspirational UAE community icons.
Exploring topics such as healthy Ramadan diets, physical and mental wellbeing, motivation in crises, and creating future leaders through traditional storytelling, the Flow Talks Series - Ramadan Edition will feature four dedicated IG takeovers via the @flowdubai Instagram page with topics designed to engage, unite and involve the emirate's at home communities.
Running every Wednesday at 5pm throughout May, the talks will feature the following speaker line-up:
Hemant Julka - Kicking off the series on6May is the Co- founder and COO of VeggiTech, a UAE-based agricultural-technology start-up, who recently teamed up with Sarood Hospitality's The Noodle House to create the 'Help our Heroes' initiative. Thanks to Hemant and team, the Asian soul food brand is delivering free care packages of fresh produce to support frontline workers and medical staff. Hemant will be speaking live from the VeggiTech farm in Sharjah, as he takes viewers around the farm and talks about the importance of local produce and keeping a healthy diet during Ramadan. VeggiTech has also started delivering fresh vegetables from the farm via www.veggiefresh.ae, which Hemant will give an insight into.
Dr. Saliha Afridi - On 13 May, Dr. Saliha, a clinical psychologist and the founder of The LightHouse Arabia, a mental health and wellness center in Dubai, will share her expertise in mental health. Dr. Saliha's session will touch upon topics ranging from being productive at home as a parent to burnout within the workplace. As a generalist working with children, adolescents, and adults on a range of diagnoses, Dr. Saliha's mission is to make mental health services accessible to the entire UAE community. Her team contributes thousands of hours to the community every year, free of charge, to educate and raise awareness on best practices for mental health and wellness.
Maitha Al Khayat- On 20 May, Maitha - an Emirati mother of five and one of the UAE's most prolific children's book illustrator, writer, author and artist - will will read one of her children's books that explores Emirati culture and traditions and talk about the inspiration behind it, before ending the session with an interactive art session. As a Board Member of the UAE Board of Books for Young People - UAEBBY, Maitha is active at literary festivals like Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, and is an ambassador at the Cultural Office Women's Creative Network in Dubai. In 10 years, she has published 172 publications ranging from picture books, graded readers, and YA books. Maitha also writes for children's TV shows, including the newly relaunched Arabic version of Sesame Street and the Emirati cartoon series Hamdoon.
Omar Al Busaidy - Capping the month-long series on the 27May, Omar, an Emirati entrepreneur, and mentor to students, will engage audiences on ways to deal with life's challenging times. A Fulbright Scholar and best-selling author, Omar will outline the premise of his self-help book 'Just Read It' and his upcoming futurism book: 'Why Jobs are Robots and Life is for People'. As a motivational speaker at several universities and conferences within the UAE and around the world, Omar has been named one of the most influential Emirati's under 40.
