A household name in Egypt and the wider Arabic-speaking world; stage, television and film actor Hassan Hosny died of a heart attack in a Cairo hospital on Saturday, May 30. The performer was 88.
Making his movie debut in the mid-70s, the then 34-year-old was somewhat of a latecomer to the silver screen, though more than made up for it with a picture career which carried the Cairo native all the way up to 2013's El Ashash and beyond.
The artist's most recent screen outing, Sultanet Al Maaz, was a Ramadan hit, which also featured Ghada Abdelrazek.
In 2018 Hosny was honoured at the 40th Cairo International Film Festival.
The actor will reportedly be buried in his hometown later today.
