Sheryn, the petite Cebuana belter who emerged runner-up to Erik Santos in the maiden season of Star In A Million, denied rumours that she's dissatisfied with the way her career is being handled and that she's quit the business and gone home to Cebu to be with her family.
On the contrary, Sheryn is busy. It's just that most of her exposure these days comes from hosting the Visayas leg of Little Big Star, a singing contest for kids aged six to nine and 10 to 13 and from doing shows outside the country. In fact, she is scheduled to leave again next month for shows in San Francisco (June 8-12) and Dubai (June 15-19).
It's also not true that she's feeling put out by the fact that her home network, ABS-CBN, seems to be concentrating more on the other 'Champions' like Sarah Geronimo and Rachelle Ann Go.
After three years in the business, Sheryn has learned to treat everything that comes her way as a blessing. She has also realised that as talented as she is, she just can't expect everything to fall into her lap.
On the issue of Sarah landing the lead role in Bituing Walang Ningning, Sheryn says: 'She entered the business ahead of me. Besides, she's good. She has potential, and she deserves it.'
'It's just a matter of the right timing. I've learned to accept everything, to take everything with a grain of salt. Yes, sometimes I get impatient, and I'm concerned that I might get left behind; you can't avoid that. But I still want to wait for the right time.'
Besides, with Little Big Star and her shows outside the country plus preparations for a forthcoming concert series and, possibly, an album before the end of the year there's a lot for Sheryn to do.
