Kelly's version of the truth

A TONSURED look, a laidback attitude and languid body language, if that's Kelly Dorjee for you, then you're in all probability, some light years away from reality. There's been a remarkable transformation in Dorjee, not just in terms of looks but also in his attitude. Here're some excerpts.

What's with your new look?

Just wanted a change. I'm happy about it.

From theatre to anchoring and then Bollywood to Tollywood, you've come a long way.

I still miss theatre. But, I'm driven by economics. So, did a bit of anchoring, modelling and then Bollywood happened. I have done some good work in Bollywood. Every film was a new experience —be it Tango Charlie with Mani Shankar, or Fareb with Deepak Tijori, or Ek Ajnabi with Apoorva Lakhia. In Tollywood I'm working with the ace director Lawrence. I'm in awe of him. He is a magical man a fantastic director, actor and, phew, the best choreographer I've ever seen.

How's the experience in Tollywood?

I want to continue working here. This'll be my base for some time now. Playing the main villain in Nagarjuna's Don is the opportunity I was waiting for. It was fantastic working with Nag. He epitomises composure. He's so calm and chilled out on the sets, that you can't help but admire him.

Why such a big hiatus?

When I started off, I didn't have the killer instinct. I was too laidback. I guess that's the reason I didn't make hay. But, thankfully the sun is still shining for me, and now I'm more focused and serious.

Have you called it quits with Lara?

I'm single. I think that says it all.

So, what went wrong with Lara Dutta?

I don't want to discuss my personal space. I haven't done it before and I'm not going to do it now. The only thing I want to tell people is 'Please, mind your own business.'

Will you do a film with Lara in future?

Lara and I are still on talking terms. And, I won't mind doing the film with anyone if the money paid to me is right.

So, what's your idea of an ideal woman?

A woman with intelligence, a sense of humour and of course beautiful. I'm basically a very shallow person.
