We at City Times happen to think Dubai does Indian cuisine very well. From informal to high-end establishments, across the board, we have our favourites. However here we take a look at what he's up against in the fancier segment.
A taste of the classical
Antique Bazaar at the Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai is one of those places you have to see to believe. Like walking into an old Maharaja's domain, the décor, the entertainment (live singers and dancers every night) and the food are all rich, colourful and plentiful.
From October 1 till 10 Navratri celebrations will be in full force with special dishes including Dahi Bhalla Chaat, Arbi Masala and Dahiwali Aloo ki Subzi on offer.
Michelin magic
Michelin starred chef Vikas Khanna's Junoon prides itself on bold flavours. The Shangri-La Dubai eatery goes for the finest ingredients around and Khanna's recipes are the better for it.
We always tend to go for the southern inspired fish curry whilst we're there. Delicious.
Here we go, Indego
A firm favourite for many a year, Indego is the epitome of high-end Indian eating. Years ago Vineet Bhatia took his five-star Mumbai and London experiences and transplanted them into the beautiful Grosvenor House setting and has never looked back.
With a constantly evolving menu and a dining room so opulent it would have made Elvis blush, it is hard to mention just one reason we keep returning, yet the ultimate element is most likely the service.
Nice and spicy and icy
Perhaps a little more informal than the rest on the list, but a brilliant new addition, Spice and Ice is one of JLT's most progressive dining venue.
Great staples such as Aloo Mattar, Chicken Korma, Laal Maas, and Prawn Coconut Chilli are why we go, but also can't ignore the atmosphere as JLT residents tend to pour in come dinner time.
Don't 'leaf' this one off the list
Mint Leaf of London makes a statement in DIFC, offering great views being so high up and a luxurious environment in which to enjoy the food. The 'Chef's Catch' menu has been a particular hit offering dishes such as Poached Scallop & Leaf Salad, South Indian Crab Cakes and Kochi Lobster Tails with Seabass Chutney.
