PINAY JAILED FOR 'BOBBITTISING' EMPLOYER

An overseas Fiipino worker (OFW), who works as a domestic helper in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), was arrested and jailed by police authorities there for "bobbittising" (cutting off the penis) her employer who allegedly raped her, reports quoting Saudi media said.

But the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila said it had yet to receive a verification of the report from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh. "So far, we have no official details on the incident. We also learned about it through media reports. But we are verifying it," DFA Executive Director for Migrant Workers Affairs Pedro Chan said.

According to reports, the 38-year-old Filipino woman was sexually assaulted by her employer while his wife was asleep. To fend off her boss' advances, the Pinay maid allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and wielded it to scare him off but he reportedly lunged at her and used force to rape her. In the scuffle, the OFW apparently was able to lop off his penis with the knife.

The Saudi employer was taken to a hospital where an emergency surgery was done to reattach her severed penis. He was afterward reported to be recuperating after the surgey was a success.

Chan said the Philippine Embassy was instructed to verify the report and to extend all possible assistance to the detained OFW. "We have to check first if the report is true. Once we have verified it, we will do all we can to assist her and ensure that her rights are protected," he said.
