‘Salman is the reason I am in Bollywood’

Sneha Ullal is back and this time round she wants to make a mark sans any godfather

An Aishwarya Rai look-alike, a complete non-actress or whatever many may have described 'Lucky' girl Sneha Ullal as, the actress promises to break all images with her new work. Her third film Kaash Mere Hote is set to be released soon.

Kaash Mere Hote comes after quite a long gap…

When Lucky and Aryan released, I was just 20-years-old. I had no knowledge of the industry and it didn't make any sense to me to work without knowing much about anything. That's why I took this break to learn and get an outlook. Now I feel I am mature enough to make the right choices and do better work.

So what changes do you see in yourself compared to your 'Lucky' days?

For one, I have grown physically! I feel I look much better now than before. I looked like a kid back then. Also, I have matured enough to understand the director's vision and what I am supposed to do. I can say I understand films much better now.

You worked with a superstar like Salman Khan in your first movie and then you acted with Sohail Khan. So what made you opt for a small movie this time around with newcomers?

Actually Kaash Mere Hote got delayed quite a bit. I was working on Lucky, Aryan and Kaash Mere Hote at the same time. And I don't have much of a role in this movie. It's more of a launch pad for Saahil and Sana Mirza. I took it just because I liked the script.

So what's your role in the movie?

I play a girl romantically linked with Saahil. Sana in the meanwhile loves Saahil and she wants to get me out of Saahil's life. My role is that of a supportive girlfriend.

What after this film?

I will soon be seen in Sangeeth Sivan's Click that releases in November. It's a horror movie - more a love story between a ghost and a human being. It also stars Shreyas Talpade and South Indian heroine Sada. Thereafter I will be seen in an English movie Gandhi Park. After that I have a film called Dard-e-Disco releasing in January in which I will be starring opposite Akshay Kapoor.

Your initial claim to fame was your resemblance to Aishwarya Rai…

I really don't want to comment on this. I have no intentions of hurting anyone and hence it would be best not to talk further on this issue.

Do you credit Salman Khan for introducing you into filmdom?

Salman Khan is definitely the reason why I am a part of the film industry today. He was the one who brought me into films. Having said that, I would like to move ahead and make a mark on my own now. I want to work hard and carve my own niche.
