It is not very often that we see females kicking a** in Hindi movies but director Sabbir Khan was very clear that his leading lady will fight as hard as his hero. While Tiger is taking Baaghi's action to the next level, Shraddha too has surprised fans with her deadly stunts in the trailer.
"I have always been very conscious that my films will not be hero-centric or male driven. I give male and female equal roles. When I approached Shraddha for this film, I told her that I do not want her to be a damsel in distress. I wanted her to stand out and kick as many butts as Tiger was kicking. I wanted to push the envelope with her, she has an extremely girl next door sweet image till now, I am hoping with this film, she will change her image," said Sabbir during a video conference with select Dubai media along with Tiger Shroff. Tiger, who made his debut with the surprise hit Heropanti, was more than excited to explore different forms of martial arts with this film. Tiger trained hard in Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art form from Kerala.
"I had to go through a lot of workshops in different martial arts that were very alien to my body. All the rehearsals were very challenging and draining. Sabbir wanted me to learn Kalari, which is the mother of all martial arts. We had action choreographers from Thailand as well and their style is very different. Every time you are rehearsing, you are rehearsing half speed, but when the camera is on, these guys turn into killing machines! That only enhances your action because you are literally fighting for your life in front of the cameras. So the actions you see on screen are pretty real." Baaghi is about Tiger's character Ronny, who is sent to an academy to learn a particular form of martial arts, but doesn't show too much interest and is keener on wooing Shraddha's character Sia. But when she gets abducted, he trains with absolute dedication to rescue his love.
'I had a huge crush on Shraddha...'
Not many people know this but I had a huge crush on Shraddha, I was crazy about her. I was fascinated and always in awe of Shraddha in school. That aside, when I met her for the first time years later for this film, we just broke the ice immediately. She is such a happy-go-lucky soul. She is a positive soul and so easy to be around. It was so easy to perform with her whether we were doing action or romantic scenes. She is such a big star and she brings none of those starry tantrums on sets. You just fall in love with Shraddha as soon as you meet her, not just because of her beauty but also because of who she is as a person." - Tiger Shroff
Tiger's humble nature sets him apart
I have worked with a lot of actors, since I was assisting directors for the longest time; Tiger is extremely humble and down to earth. I think that just sets him apart from the other people that you meet. It comes from the way he has been brought up; it comes from his father and mother. I think it's a beautiful quality to be humble and I hope he stays like this forever. There has been a remarkable change in Tiger since Heropanti. During that film, I could sense a little nervousness and awkwardness, which comes with the territory since he was a newcomer. Post Heropanti, with all the love and appreciation that he received from everybody, he changed into a very confident person on and off screen. He came to Baaghi with a lot of confidence." - Sabbir Khan

Tiger played a rebel in his debut film Heropanti as well. Is this a repeat?

The term rebel is different in this film. There is a different purpose to this character; what they (both characters) fight for is similar yet different. There is more of a graph, shades and depth than my character in Heropanti. He is a better fighter in this film."   - Tiger Shroff

I am star struck by Hrithik Roshan
Sammy Davis, Freddie Star fascinate me. Someday I hope to do a biopic on one of these legends. Also Hrithik Roshan, but he is my biggest influence in this industry. I look up to him for inspiration. Every time I meet him or see him on screen I am star struck, I can't say enough for that man. He has mixed the aesthetics and crafts so beautiful. He is a full package. I think no actor has been able to do that as well as he has." - Tiger Shroff
 'I am a boring guy'
I am a boring guy. When I am not shooting, I do some dance rehearsals and train with my boys doing various actions. When I am home I watch a lot of videos and movies. I love action movies. I watch videos of live performances by Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown, you know entertainers with a full package. They don't make them like they used to anymore. They used to sing, dance, act, and entertain. Now we have got singers or dancers or actors, it is so segregated." - Tiger Shroff
When director pushed Shraddha to sing a song
There is a track called Sab Tera sung by Shraddha. I had to push her a little bit to do that because I am aware that she sings really well. I am glad I pushed her because she has sung the song so well. Songs have always been important for Indian cinema. I am extremely happy that the music of my film has been appreciated. It makes me feel that people would want to see it on screen. " - Sabbir Khan
