Bollywood film 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga' that brings the father-daughter duo of Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor together on the big screen for the first time will not release in the UAE this weekend, though it is out in India this Friday.

The unusual script made the two agree to do the film, they have said in earlier interviews while promoting the film in India.

Vox Cinemas on Wednesday morning confirmed to Khaleej Times that the movie was not slated to release in their theatres this weekend.

Sonam Kapoor's manager, when contacted, refused to comment, while Fox Star Studio India (distributors of the movie) did not respond to messages seeking comment.

Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is yet to respond to queries seeking comment.

The news might come as a disappointment for Sonam Kapoor's fans, who were waiting to see her on the big screen after 'Veere Di Wedding', and that too alongside her father Anil Kapoor. The tagline as shown on the released film trailer and poster is 'The most unexpected romance of the year.'

Sonam and her sister Rhea's last production 'Veere Di Wedding' had an unusual storyline as well though the critics and the audiences received it with great enthusiasm.

Cinegoers can, however, look forward to watching the Nawazuddin Siddique-starrer 'Thackeray', that was held back from last week. Also in the cinema halls this weekend is 'The Gandhi Murder' directed by Karim Traidia and Pankaj Sehgal. The film is muddled in controversy as it touches upon the 'real truth' behind Mahatma Gandhi's assassination on January 30, 1948. Interestingly, the movie is not releasing in India.
